Celebrating the completion of its construction and AV installation, LEED platinumSunset Green Home today announced its grand opening event being held on Wednesday, September 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. Located in the town of Southampton, New York, the home features smart home and AV products from technology partners such as ELAN, SpeakerCraft, Sunfire, Panamax and more.
Sunset Green Home is a sustainable, energy-efficient new home registered through the LEED® for Homes Green Building Program with the certification goal of LEED platinum. The LEED certification program is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of green buildings.
“The goal of the Sunset Green Home was focused around sustainable living and technology integration,” homeowner and LEED AP Homes specialist Kim Erle explained. The project team members combine expertise from multiple disciplines, including technology solutions providers, architecture, landscape architecture, custom home building, energy modeling, sustainability consulting, and LEED program administration.
According to Erle, the decision to build a sustainable LEED certified home was made after the original 1940’s era beach cottage was damaged first by Hurricane Irene and then, devastatingly, by Hurricane Sandy. “When we decided to rebuild this home after Hurricane Sandy we wanted to build a new home that would stand as a model for green residential building in a region where homeowners are increasingly calling for environmentally friendly, healthy and energy-efficient homes,” Erle explained. “We wanted to align ourselves with partners that share the same commitment. Core Brands absolutely shares our vision and our commitment to be an environmentally responsible member of the community and we are proud to select them as our control, audio and connectivity solutions provider.”
In addition to the grand opening event, Sunset Green Home will host public house tours on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27. During the tours, visitors will learn what goes into building an energy efficient home; which building materials to choose to ensure healthy indoor air quality; how to select plumbing fixtures that we water-efficient and durable; what it takes to create a resilient coastal home; and how to make sustainable interior design choices.
