Doze Gives Back This Holiday Season Through Partnership With The Coalition Against Hunger

From November 21st- December 31st, Doze will donate 5% of all mattress sales to the Coalition Against Hunger

It’s no secret that the holiday season has become more about sales and discounts than giving back to the community. Companies slash prices and host “Black Friday” extravaganzas to make as much money as possible, with little regard for much else.

This holiday season, Philadelphia-based Doze – an up-and-coming direct-to-consumer mattress startup co-founded by Venture For America alumni Brendan Rice and Russell Suskind – is looking to bring back the spirit of giving by partnering with the Coalition Against Hunger, an organization that fights hunger in the Greater Philadelphia region. From November 21st through December 31st, Doze will donate 5% of all sales to the Coalition Against Hunger.

“We at Doze love the holidays, the food, the ugly sweaters, and especially the naps. But we don’t buy into the idea that crazy sales and discounts make the holidays any better, or any more meaningful,” said Rice. “We knew there had to be a better way to bring a sense of community and thankfulness to this time of year, and we found the perfect solution through this partnership.”

Founded in 1996, the Coalition Against Hunger strives to build a community where all people have the food they need to lead healthy lives. The Coalition connects people with food assistance programs and nutrition education; provides resources to a network of food pantries, and educates the public and policymakers about responsible solutions that prevent people from going hungry.

“We are very pleased to partner with Doze,” said Coalition Against Hunger executive director Laura Wall. “Doze’s commitment to supporting the community is evident through their involvement. This gracious contribution will help bring food to families in need this holiday season and go a long way to ensure that people will have access to the food.”

“Our company knows how important it is to give back to the community that has given us so much this past year,” continued Suskind. “Over 10% of Philadelphia households are food insecure, making organizations like Coalition Against Hunger incredibly important to the health and well-being of the city. As a company that focuses on keeping people healthy with a good night’s sleep, we’re honored to contribute to the incredible work that they do.”
