Tritton Kunai Pro marks the first gaming headset to feature Dirac 3D Audio, and represents the Swedish company’s official debut into the gaming market.
Dirac Research, the Swedish pioneer of digitally-optimized sound solutions, today announced that gaming headset brand Tritton is equipping its all-new Kunai Pro with Dirac 3D Audio – a pioneering digital audio solution that enables an unparalleled level of 360-degree immersion and externalization over headphones. The Dirac-enabled Tritton Kunai Pro will be debuted and demonstrated at CES 2019 in Dirac’s Westgate Suite #630.
The Tritton Kunai Pro is also equipped with a custom-tailored Dirac HD Sound headphone optimization solution. The underlying technology corrects headphones’ frequency and impulse responses for a pristine sound that’s ideal for music listening. The dual-solution headset allows gamers to toggle between the Dirac-optimized sound modes: Dirac 3D Audio (supports up to 7.1 surround sound), for gaming applications, and Dirac HD Sound, for music listening applications.
“Gaming with Dirac 3D Audio allows users to hear enemies sneak up from behind, helicopters fly overhead, and commands yelled from all directions – as if you’re actually on the battlefield,” stated Lars Isaksson, Dirac’s General Manager of XR Audio. “However, the solution required to create this level of gaming immersion differs from that which allows music to be reproduced in the way the artist intended. With an integrated Dirac 3D Audio-Dirac HD Sound gaming solution, users can enjoy the best of both experiences with the highest quality audio optimized for both applications.”
Dirac’s innovative approach to addressing acoustical challenges that have long plagued the industry allow the Kunai Pro to produce higher sound quality, more realistic sound externalization, and more accurate sound localization.
“Our patent-pending Dynamic HRTFs enable unparalleled positional accuracy and one-degree resolution in all three dimensions, which ensures the accuracy of audio reproduction that mirrors reality with minimum distortion and errors,” continued Isaksson. “Furthermore, our proprietary 3D audio reverberation engine, built upon over a decade of scientific breakthroughs in sound field synthesis, produces convincing sound externalization and a realistic sense of space. Together, these components create a natural and transparent immersive soundscape, where the audio quality remains intact while the immersion achieves a new level of realism.”
“Our customers demand the very best performance from their headsets, be it for gaming or for music listening,” stated a senior Tritton representative. By incorporating two Dirac solutions into the Kunai Pro, we’re able to deliver in spades on both fronts. Our customers demand the best, and that’s exactly what we’re giving them thanks to our work with Dirac.”
Continued Paul Pu, CEO of Laccess, the designer and manufacturer of the Tritton Kunai Pro, “We aimed to design a gaming headset for Tritton that leads the market, so we turned to Dirac – a company that so consistently pioneers the digital audio solutions that take hardware performance to a new level altogether.”
Dirac 3D Audio is the culmination of various recent engineering breakthroughs in 3D audio, surround sound externalization, and more. However, it also leverages the company’s extensive experience designing energy-efficient audio solutions, with ultra-low CPU and memory bandwidth constraints, for leading portable device manufacturers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus, Motorola, and more.
